Your employer vouches. The paperwork calms down.
A written verification of employment — a single form your employer fills out — can stand in for the usual document pile on select programs. It's built for people who are genuinely, verifiably employed but whose pay structure makes the normal paperwork a mess: family businesses, cash-adjacent industries, a payroll system that changed mid-stream. Real job, unconventional paycheck? This is your lane.
How a WVOE loan works.
The lender sends your employer a standard written verification of employment form. Your employer completes it — position, tenure, income — and that verified statement becomes the income documentation, typically supported by a short window of bank statements showing the pay landing. It's a narrow product with a specific job: qualifying real employees whose pay structure makes traditional documents messy.
Who this actually fits.
People who work for a family business and get paid in ways payroll software wasn't consulted about. Employees with heavy cash-adjacent compensation in industries where that's normal. Recent structure changes — new entity, new payroll system — where the W-2 trail got scrambled but the job never stopped. The employment is real; the paperwork is just unconventional. That's the entire use case.
Not sure this is your product? Good instinct.
VOE sits in a family: bank statement, P&L, 1099, asset utilization. The right pick depends on how your money actually moves. Ten-minute call, and we'll route you.

Straight answers — the same way you'd get them on the phone.
Will the lender contact my employer?+
Yes — that's the product. The written form is completed by your employer, and lenders typically verify it independently. If your employer won't verify, this isn't your program.
I'm paid partly in cash — can this work?+
If the employment is genuine and your employer will document your actual compensation, possibly — often alongside bank statements showing the deposits. Truth is the requirement; format is the flexibility.
Is a VOE loan the same as self-employed?+
No — it's for employees. If you own the business, look at bank statement or P&L programs instead. (Owning the business that employs you routes differently too — ask.)
Why haven't I heard of this?+
Banks don't carry it. It lives in the wholesale world — one more thing a broker's lender list has that a branch doesn't.
Every situation is different — this is general info, not a loan commitment or offer to lend.
